Bill Gates

A retired newspaper editor and small business owner, Bill and his wife, Dr. Roberta Reed, have lived in Sun Lakes since 2003, when they moved from Cooperstown, N.Y.  Bill has been treasurer of the Sun Lakes Democratic Club and an Oakwood precinct committeeperson for the past two years.In New York he was an elected county legislator (1990-94) and town supervisor (2000-2003). He is a Vietnam veteran and a recipient of the Bronze Star. In 2003, the Cooperstown Chamber of Commerce honored him with its citizen of the year award.  Since moving to Arizona, he has been deeply involved with New Adventures, a lifelong learning program affiliated with Chandler Gilbert Community College.  He served as president of the organization for three years, and continues on its governing board.   Bill has one adult son and five step-grandchildren.
