While a somewhat-active Democrat since I was 15, volunteering every election cycle, something broke (or was fixed!) in 2000 when I realized that we had to work year-round to gain a Democratic majority. Since then, I've served as communications director for legislative candidates, been an engaged member of D17 Dems, was a charter member of the grassroots group Arizonans for Obama, started Arizona Women for Obama, volunteered in 5 states, and knocked on countless doors.
This year, I’m intent on turning Arizona Blue in 2010, one neighborhood at a time!

Craig McDermott, LD 17 Treasurer
I grew up in Massachusetts and moved to Arizona in 1993.
For the longest time, I was an "opinionated but uninvolved" Democrat, but when Harry Mitchell ran for Congress against JD Hayworth, I became one of the hundreds of volunteers who helped spread now-Congressman Mitchell's message and send Hayworth to the AM radio dial.
After spending 2008 working to elect Democrats in Tempe, Scottsdale, and the East Valley (with a fantastic side trip to Denver to see Barack Obama accept the nomination!), I was elected as Treasurer of the District 17 Democrats.
Now, in...[more]
