Michael Conway was born in Detroit, Michigan.  He later moved to Attica, New York, and then Flemington, New Jersey.  Michael has lived in Mesa, Arizona, since 1981.

Michael graduated from Dobson High School.  He attended Arizona State University and obtained a Bachelors Degree in Political Science with minors in history and geography.  He later returned to ASU and received a Masters Degree in Educational Media and Computers.  His latest Masters came from Northern Arizona University in the field of Educational Leadership and Administration.

Michael started his teaching career in Queen Creek at a charter school and taught there for four years.  He realized a desire to teach within his own community.  He has since taught 5th – 9th grade at varying schools within Mesa Public Schools.  Michael has sought positions at school sites that include great diversity and whose students face socio economic challenges. He obtains great joy working with his students and lighting a dream and love for learning within his students.  Michael also is an adjunct faculty member of the University of Phoenix.  He thoroughly enjoys teaching his adult learners the basics of teaching English Language Learning students.

Michael currently serves on numerous boards and committees.  These include the boards of both the Mesa Education Association and the Arizona Education Association.  He enjoys his roles on these boards as they offer an opportunity to advocate on behalf of all public education students, their parents, and his colleagues. Michael serves as LD18 Second Vice Chairperson of Legislative District 18 and is a State Committeeman for the Arizona Democratic Party.  He obtains pleasure working to transform the political landscape of West and Central Mesa.  He strives to bring diversity to our elected political leadership, an alteration that will reflect today’s Mesa which is a diverse community filled with people of varying political and cultural beliefs.  Lastly, Michael serves on the Peace and Justice Committee within the Desert Heritage Church, located in Mesa.  He enjoys his role and fervently believes that if there is not peace there cannot be justice.  He believes that all individuals deserve to live in a community, nation, and world where justice and peace are the top priorities.
