I grew up in a Democratic family. My dad listened to constant news, adored FDR, and had his own 'voting block' of Russian immigrants who were citizens but wanted my dad to tell them how to vote!!

I became active in USC's student Democratic organization, and I was briefly involved in Democratic politics in LA but really 'got into it' when we moved to Phoenix in 1966, where I registered to vote within a few days of moving into our new house, where I still live. That led me to become a PC as well as a State Committeeperson.  I was very active in the Democratic Party to include editing the district newsletter for several years, helping to write the rules for the Party's first presidential primary, and running for the State Senate in 1972 against (pause) Senator Sandra Day O'Connor. And guess what, I lost!

In 1977 I went to work for the State of Arizona and thus was 'Hatched' so all I could do was give money and vote (though I remained very active in the ACLU).  When I retired in 2003 I immediately got involved again with the Democratic Party, becoming first an appointed and then an elected PC and volunteering to be the Secretary of District 10.

I'm a Democrat because I believe in equality and justice (including economic justice), for all, and that government can be a force for good.
