Have you ever considered running for office? The Maricopa County Democratic Party (MCDP) is looking for a few good men and women to run for office.

Many Democratic community leaders and activists are interested in running but need help connecting with the right resources. Or maybe you have questions regarding what resources it takes to launch and run a successful campaign.

MCDP can help you with a wide variety of tasks and issues, including access to the voter file, developing a campaign plan, understanding which third party groups can endorse in your race, and understanding what it takes to qualify as a candidate and to launch and run a campaign.

MCDP is here to help answer your questions and help connect you with the right resources. We can provide assistance becoming a candidate for county and local races, including:

  • city and town council
  • school board
  • constable and justice of the peace
  • county-wide races
  • county supervisor races

Even if you do not need our assistance, or if you are running in a crowded Democratic primary, MCDP would still like to hear from you.

Why Run for Office?

It is critical to elect Democrats to office -- even non-partisan offices.   Our state needs a "farm team" of local candidates who are educated on the issues and willing to fight for those things that Democrats know are important to Arizona's future:  good jobs, good schools, safe neighborhoods and clean air and water.

Being a candidate is a serious undertaking, but it will be one of the most rewarding things you do in your life.   While it takes a big commitment and a lot of work, you will have fun and meet wonderful people.  You will learn a lot about your community and what it takes to be a good public servant.

We have a lot of work to do before our 2010 election -- and I'm looking forward to having you on our team!  If you have any questions please email:
