I am one of six children that were raised by a single mother that moved a LOT! I grew up in Northern Arizona living in Sanders and Chambers on Historic Route 66. We moved to Winslow then Phoenix then we moved to Kingman and from there we moved to Burbank California for a few years and then back to Arizona living in Holbrook for a few years and then back to Burbank again.
I met my husband to be in California, got married and we moved to Michigan where we raised two daughters. Our daughters moved to Arizona and we followed after my husband retired in 1999.
While living in Michigan I became involved in the local American Atheists Chapter helping with the data base, newsletter, and answering machine. I also became involved with the National Organization for Women 1989 after going to a huge rally in Washington DC for Women’s Reproductive Rights. Our chapter volunteered every Saturday at an abortion clinic to protect patients from being harassed by an Anti-Choice group and also worked to help candidates that we endorsed. I was a “domestic engineer” working a few odd jobs while our daughters were young getting involved in the PTA and being a Brownie Leader for my daughters troop. When they were old enough to be left alone I started taking classes in accounting, and word processing. I started working at office clerical jobs through Kelly Temp and learning other computer programs like Excel. I finally got a permanent job at Wayne County Health Department where I worked for five years until my husband retired and we moved to Arizona.
Since moving to Arizona I worked at the Clean Elections Institute for a few years and got involved in Arizona NOW and Arizona Women’s Political Caucus doing the newsletter for our chapter. I have been working for Botta’s Concrete Construction since September 2001.
I was formerly Treasurer of LD-19 and in addition to being Secretary of LD-19, I am on the Arizona NOW State Board and I’m currently serving my second term as Southwest Regional Director from AZ on the NOW National Board.
